About Freedom Hooves Therapeutic Riding Center
FHTRC was incorporated in 1999 as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. We have grown to include many new staff members and many dedicated volunteers. We have 9 wonderful horses and serve hundreds of clients yearly.
A proud member of PATH International, FHTRC follows a set of guidelines set by some of the best equine therapists in the industry. Here at Freedom Hooves, we focus on therapeutic riding sessions. Our clients see benefits across many areas, including psychological, physical, social, and educational gains.
Our Mission
Dedicated to unlocking the full potential of anyone with a physical, cognitive, or emotional disability through equine-assisted services.
How Therapeutic Riding Helps
Physical Improvements
Riding a horse moves the rider’s body like a human gait, so riders with physical needs often show improvement in flexibility, balance, and muscle strength.
Emotional Improvements
For individuals with emotional challenges, the unique relationship formed with the horse can lead to increased confidence, patience, and self-esteem.
Recreational Opportunities
Partnering with equines also provides recreational opportunities for individuals to enjoy the outdoors and take pleasure in interacting with animals.
Our Community Impact
At Freedom Hooves, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. Partnerships allow us to extend the healing power of horses throughout our community. We work with schools, healthcare providers, veterans’ organizations, disability service agencies, counseling programs, foster care organizations, and many other nonprofits.
Our community partners allow us to serve people of all ages. We help children, teens, adults, and seniors facing a wide range of physical, emotional, cognitive, and social challenges. Together, we help our riders:
- Boost confidence
- Grow independence
- Improve connection
- Build hope
These partnerships help us provide equine-assisted services to everyone, no matter their background. Every collaboration strengthens our community. Together, we grow—one rider, one family, and one partnership at a time.
